Philosophy
of Education
I chose to become a teacher because I enjoy learning
and teaching others what I know about different subjects. As I have progressed through my studies, I have become passionate
about history and geography. It is because of this passion that I am determined to help students become passionate in their
studies of history and geography. My teaching philosophy is situated in Piaget’s constructivism. Thus, I consider myself
a facilitator. My philosophy is to lead students to discover the importance of learning about our world through geography
and our past through history. I strongly believe that without knowledge of history and geography, students will not be able
to appreciate other cultures and the history of other countries.
In the classroom, I try to be enthusiastic and
I find that students feed off my energy and have a better attitude in class. My goal in class is to motivate my students to
succeed in everything they attempt. In my classes, students are constantly being involved in learning through cooperative
learning activities, hands-on projects, music, videos, and photographs. All of these teaching strategies help my students
to be actively involved in our class, which helps them retain knowledge.
By committing myself to doing whatever it takes
to ensure my students success, I hope to be a teacher who helps my students realize their full potential. In helping students
learn about the history and geography of our world, I can ensure that my students will have the tools to become well-rounded
and educated citizens. It is my job as a teacher to show my students the value of learning as much as possible throughout
their lives, because without knowledge they cannot be successful.
